Dancing With Children

One of my biggest surprises here is how many people like to sing and dance, AND that they like to do it in intergenerational groups.  Children and adults together!  And they know the same songs and dances!   

 

One night several nights back, the children in the town of Vasai put on a show for us.  They shared several group dances, and then at the end...they came out to the audience, grabbed us by the hand, and made us dance with them!  It was 20 minutes of wonderful chaos as we copied their movements, and boogied down.  I learned that I'm a really good dancer Indian style.  ANd it made me wonder, dear students, do you have cultural dances to share with people?  IF a group of Indians came over and asked to see your dance, what would you show them?  I think we need to create our very own Saklan Valley School line or circle dance, just in case we ever get asked!!
