Hackintosh.org: Just bought an iPhone today and it's version 1.1.1

Question (BlueX - Junior Member):

Does anyone know of a way to perhaps unlock the iPhone at 1.1.1?

I tried the downgrade method but I think that only works if you've either upgraded from 1.02 or have unlocked it in the past

Solutions? :-(

nope at the moment, u cant do anything with your stock 1.1.1 phone. Wait for an unlock for 1.1.1 to come

We are still waiting for a method to unlock iPhones which have the
new Firmware version 1.1.1. (which are currently being sold in the U.S. Apple Stores). Last time it took the iPhone Dev team around 2 months to come out with an unlock solution. Until this happens our iPhone will remain a crippled iPod touch :(

Of course, if they are able to come out with a Firmware downgrade solution (1.1.1 to 1.0.2), then the problem is solved. We guess they are investing 50% of their energy in Firmware downgrade solutions and 50% into hacking the new Firmware 1.1.1.

Our original plan was to bring more iPhones around middle of October, but due to the fact that we cannot get our hands on new Units at this point we will have to wait and see what happens.
