Interview with Wedding Planner

Today, I had a chance to sit down and get great information from Dana Barone, a worker at JustWeddings.com, regarding the company's process as well as resources that are available to the modern-day bride.

Allison: Please explain how the JustWeddings.com process works?

Dana: A bride arrives at our site and specifies what services she is looking for regarding her upcoming wedding. Next, she is contacted by our verification team to check for inaccuracies and additional information. Finally, she is contacted by three of our preferred vendors who will provide her with the information sought to help make the best decision.

Allison: What benefits does a service like this deliver to an aspiring bride?

Dana: One of the biggest benefits is the reception of unbiased information. By linking the bride with service providers (who are competing for her business), she can then be in the position to better understand the service as well as make a better buying decision.

Allison: What opportunities/disadvantages do modern brides have in comparison to the former generation of brides?

Dana: There are more resources available in today's world to assist a bride. Sites such as ours, can aid a bride in regards to all of her wedding service needs; such a convenience was not available a generation ago.

The glaring disadvantage is the cost of having a wedding. While the resources has increased, so has the cost of everything.

Allison: What wedding resources do you think are most celebrated by the modern bride?

Dana: The Web (of course), bridal magazines, the recommendations of friends and family, and wedding planners.

Tips: Questions to ask the bridal gown consultant ~ Do you carry designer gowns? Price range? Payment? Refund policy? How long for alterations? Can I meet your seamstress before ordering? How about a staff member at my wedding to handle any snags? If available, extra charge? What is fabric of gown? Cleaning instructions?

For Philly brides, Web-related resources such as JustWeddings.com and The Knot are attempting to make an impact on the wedding industry. Does that mean the Web will take precedence regarding wedding planning? What resources have you used/or are using to prepare for your wedding?
